Rail Infrastructure

HOCHTIEF has been providing award-winning solutions to complex construction challenges in and around the UK rail infrastructure since the early 1990s. Delivering multidisciplinary projects ranging in value from £4m to £128m, our experience spans station works – from major upgrades to platform extensions and providing step-free access – railway extensions, rail bridges, underpasses and clearance works for rail electrification. We also provide associated rail infrastructure works, including M&E systems, signalling, trackwork and OLE infrastructure.

We have a longstanding working relationship with Network Rail, full RISQS (formally Link-Up) accreditation we and have held a Principal Contractor’s Licence since its introduction in 2008 (having previously held a CAC (Contractor’s Assurance Case) licence in the early 1990s). This longevity means our processes and procedures are aligned to Network Rail’s, and we are well versed in completing works efficiently during rail possessions.

Working collaboratively with our clients and key supply chain partners, we deliver innovative design and construction solutions that maximise efficiency while providing cost and time saving benefits. Our carefully planned methodologies minimise disruption in operational station and rail environments and ensure the safety of the travelling public as well as third-party assets. We are also adept at dealing with the various challenges involved in works in the rail sector, including complex logistics, constrained worksites and managing consents and approvals processes.

Our clients include Network Rail, GWR, London Underground and London Overground, and we work hard to build schemes that deliver added value and provide a legacy of sustained economic improvement for local communities.
