Tottenham Hale Station Upgrade
Capita Property & Infrastructure (Capita)
HOCHTIEF is upgrading Tottenham Hale Station, to increase capacity and create a new landmark interchange that will fit with the wider regeneration of the area. Our works include expanding the existing station, refurbishing and provide step free access.
- New station façade
- Ticket hall refurbishment
- Vent shaft demolition and replacement
- Staff accommodation reconfiguration
- Foundation and walls for future Oversite Development (OSD)
- Station-front retail premises
- Infill of redundant pedestrian subway
Co-ordinating new construction with the existing station while minimising disruption to passengers was a major challenge. To ensure seamless integration of the upgrade works, we used our HOCHTIEF ViCon Online Rail Information System (ORIS) to manage the project using BIM.
We created a detailed 3D model of the station which enabled us to fully co-ordinate the new design with the existing infrastructure and check that sub consultants’ designs worked together. We used the model to plan construction in 3D, animating a detailed phasing of the works to help us to identify risks and provide programme certainty. Our animation also included passenger movements to ensure that we provided safe routes for passengers throughout delivery, a key client requirement.
We work behind hoardings to avoid disrupting passenger flows and maintain station operations, while 100% of project staff use public transport or cycle to the site to reduce our impact on local traffic.
We won a Transport for London Beacon Award for our outstanding health and safety performance.
